Waterways Strategy

A comprehensive Waterways Strategy for Chester has been developed as part of the wider One City Plan. The strategy gives a clear direction on how waterways can contribute to growth, investment and the leisure economy on both the River Dee and the Shropshire Union Canal.

The project was developed by Chester Growth Partnership (formerley Chester Renaissance), Cheshire West and Chester Council, The Canal and Rivers Trust, The Inland Waterways Association and Chester Canal Heritage Trust and actively encourages engagement with local stakeholders.

Our Aim

Development of a coherent, comprehensive plan for the River Dee and Canal to deliver a renewed vitality and maximize the opportunities the waterways and water-frontage present for the benefit of residents, users, business and visitors.
